The Costco Anywhere Visa card will offer 5% cash back on gas, a major upgrade from the previous rate. 2. Food Court Access Tightened
Membership verification will be required at food courts, including for cash payments. This change, already tested in some locations, aims to prevent non-member access and maintain low prices for members. Expect digital scanners at food court counters, similar to warehouse entrances.

3. New Store Formats and Expansions
Costco is expanding its footprint with 35 new warehouses planned for 2026, though the number may adjust to around 28 due to international delays. In addition, non-traditional formats are emerging, including a standalone gas station in Mission Viejo, California, and furniture-only stores in Alaska.
