We seek an enthusiastic and communicative team member to support the Management team and our Urban Farmer field team, assist with the daily ins and outs of business operations, and manage daily client communication. Love & Carrots is a small but fast-growing and evolving company; we are in search of an applicant who is passionate about urban agriculture, well-organized, and enjoys working in a collaborative group setting while being capable of managing their responsibilities independently. There is opportunity to be involved in many different facets of our organization, as well as to expand into a larger role over time.The Accounts & Communications Manager ensures that company operations and client communication run smoothly at Love & Carrots. You will work closely with both our Management and Urban Farmer teams to complete daily, weekly, and monthly tasks such as email communication, scheduling, billing, and social media content creation.The ideal candidate for this position will possess a base of knowledge about vegetable growing and gardening, and be able to answer simple questions, but is not expected to be a garden expert!

About us:
Love & Carrots is DC’s foremost urban farming and edible landscaping company. We design, install and maintain organic urban farms, vegetable gardens, and native landscapes across DC, MD, and VA. Through our garden care & coaching program we provide expert garden maintenance, guidance, and education in over 150 gardens every year, helping connect people to their food and inspiring local food production and farming inside the beltway. Since our inception in 2011 we’ve installed over 2000 gardens and our clients include families, residential complexes, and community organizations throughout the DMV.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Manager will support the Management team and our Urban Farmers working in the field, spearhead client communications, and assist with the daily ins and outs of business operations.
While the list below outlines the general areas of responsibility, this position may be assigned tasks not explicitly described here, but which fall within the purview of these areas.

Operational Support:
– Schedule and manage consultation calendar for Garden Designers
– Manage and organize the calendar for crew of 6+ Urban Farmers
– Oversee garden care logistics
– Includes: scheduling and managing one-off visits, updating the maintenance calendar throughout the season, and
facilitating client/farmer communication when necessary
– Assist with curriculum development
– Provide on-call solutions and support to Urban Farmers in the field
– Attend occasional tabling and networking events
– Responsible for greenhouse watering or checking irrigation systems during the day

Client Management:
– Manage all incoming service inquiries to general email account and office phone
– Communicate schedule changes to clients, field basic client questions
– Maintain client accounts with accurate and up-to-date information
– Client contract management

Marketing:
– Manage weekly instagram posts
– Format and send monthly newsletter
– Maintain our website (update staff bios, add basic information as needed, etc.)

Billing:
– Use QuickBooks to invoice clients for consultations, garden maintenance, and materials
Maintain and collect monthly late fees

Requirements:
– At least 1 year experience as an Office Manager, Marketing Associate, Outreach Coordinator, or similar position
– Excellent communication and writing skills
– Preference for applicants with vegetable gardening knowledge and growing experience
– Highly organized, able to handle a variety of important tasks and manage competing priorities
– Detail-oriented, flexible and capable of managing changing day-to-day logistics
– Commitment to being a solution-oriented and self-motivated in a team-oriented atmosphere
– Able to take ownership over tasks and responsibilities with minimal oversight from management on a daily basis
– Current driver’s license (our headquarters is located in Oxon Hill, MD, so access to a vehicle is preferable)

The Communications Manager is expected to be proficient in:
– Google Suite (Google Calendars, Gmail, Sheets, etc.)
– Microsoft Suite
– QuickBooks
– Mailchimp
– Survey Monkey
– Instagram

Compensation:
– Salary: $48,000 – $50,000 commensurate with experience
– Signing bonus of $1,000 after 3 months of employment
– Opportunities for performance-based bonuses
– Health and dental insurance coverage after 60 days of full time employment

– 40 hours PTO, 5 holidays, and 2 weeks PTO in December, 1 sick day per year

Schedule: Full-time: 7:30 – 4PM Monday – Friday
