Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich is a self-help book that was first published in 1937. It has sold more than 20 million copies and is one of the best-selling books of all time.

The book focuses on Hill’s philosophy that personal success can be achieved through building wealth, which he believes can be achieved through setting goals, developing self-confidence, and visualizing what one wants to accomplish.

In the 10th chapter of the book, Hill talks about “persistence”, which he defines as “the sustained effort necessary to induce faith”. He says that it is not a matter of how hard we try or how much talent we possess but rather how long we persist at something before we give up.

Napoleon Hill is an American motivational speaker, author, and entrepreneur. He is widely considered to be one of the founders of the modern genre of personal-success coaching.

Napoleon Hill was born in 1883 in Wise County, Virginia to James Hill and Annie Eliza Taylor. His father died before he was born and his mother died when he was six years old so he went to live with his aunt.

Hill attended a one room schoolhouse with 8 grades that used the McGuffey Readers as textbooks. He credits his aunt for much of his early education which consisted mainly of reading books from her library.

Hill married Lelia Graves on December 25th, 1907 and they had three children together: James (1909), John (1911) and Annie (1913).

Hill wanted to write a book on the principles of success, but he did not know what the title should be. He spent weeks trying to think of one, but he could not come up with anything that would fit. One day, as he was sitting in his office trying to think of a title for his book, an old man came into the room and told him that it was time for lunch. Hill went with him for lunch and during their conversation, the old man told him about how important persistence is in achieving success in life. This gave Hill an idea for his new book’s title: Think and Grow Rich
