How to Build a Custom Skill (10-Minute Method)

You can create a skill by simply “interviewing” Claude to generate a specialized instruction file.

Enable Skill Creator: Go to Settings > Capabilities > Skills and toggle on the “skill-creator” meta-skill.
Describe Your Vision: Open a new chat and ask Claude: “Use the skill-creator to help me build a [Name of Skill] skill that [Primary Function]”.
Refine & Download: Answer Claude’s clarifying questions about output formats and triggers. Claude will generate a .zip file or a set of instructions.
Upload to Claude: Return to Settings > Capabilities > Skills, click Add/Upload, and drop your new skill file.
Test: Start a new chat. Your skill will now activate automatically when it detects relevant tasks, or you can trigger it manually.
